About Pipeline Segment 3

At the intersection of Gerber and Vineyard Roads, the pipeline will bifurcate, or split, in two branches. One branch (Segment 3) continues east on Gerber Road and through approximately four miles of open land to the Folsom South Canal. This portion of the pipeline is 72 inches in diameter and will transport up to 100 million gallons of water to EBMUD during dry years only. The water will discharge from the FRWA pipe into the Folsom South Canal and travel to the southern end of the canal, where it will be pumped through pipelines to EBMUD’s Mokelumne Aqueducts in San Joaquin County. From the aqueducts, the water will travel 90 miles for delivery to EBMUD customers.
